| It's time for TECHTOBERFEST |
|
Two great reasons to join fellow Chapter members and guests in Peoria on Saturday, September 22: "Tech..." as in Tech Session plus "...toberfest" which can only be the Oktoberfest celebration sponsored by the German American Society. The Tech session convenes at 10AM at shop of the import specialist Kauth & Mayeur on Orange St, just north of Main in Peoria. Then about Noon the activity rolls down the bluff toward the Riverfront and the food, entertainment and festivity of Oktoberfest. See the Events Forum for details.

| Show, Shine & Wine under the August Sun |
|
The 3rd consecutive "Show, Shine & Wine" at the Mackinaw Valley
Vineyard attracted a great turnout of Illini Chapter members and
guests. Coupes, sedans, convertibles, Z, X and Mini Cooper were all
represented - so the participants had plenty of rolling stock to
admire. With breezes and the shade of a sycamore taking the edge off
of the mid-day heat, those attending enjoyed food, beverages and
conversation on the winery patio. The top vote-getter for "Best of
Show" was Bill Harlan's '03 M5, and there were many other crowd
favorites. The afternoon wrapped up with a tour of the winery guided
by owner Paul Hahn, who offered samples of his experimental Grappa to
those brave enough to try it!

| Great Day for Test Drives and Lincoln |
|
...Lincoln the President, that is. And test-driving Bimmers. Enthusiastic members turned out at Isringhausen in Springfield on Saturday Apr.28. Host Nick Drum offered complimentary carwashes for the few who arrived with dirt on their Ultimate Driving Machine. The weatherman cooperated, serving up a sunny warm day, and several attendees took the opportunity to test drive a model they're eyeing for acquisition. Returning the keys and what remained of the gas and the tires to Nick, Members then adjourned a couple blocks down the street to the much-acclaimed Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. It never fails to impress first-time and repeat visitors, and the new Mary Todd Lincoln exhibit attracted special attention.
